A long-standing school community with national roots and international ambition

Datus Complex Schools Ltd was founded to serve children in Accra and families attracted by its inclusive ethos, bilingual character, and academic philosophy.

Datus Complex Schools Ltd was founded on June 12, 1962, and is registered by the Ministry of Education in Ghana. The wider school operates the Ghana National Curriculum together with international pathways including the IB and British Cambridge curriculum.

Datus International School is the wing of the school focused on the IB and Cambridge IGCSE pathways. What began with just 12 pupils has grown into a learning community that has contributed significantly to the education of both local and international learners.

The school was founded to serve children in the Accra community and families drawn to its bilingual character, philosophy, and educational objectives. Today, Datus continues to position itself as a diverse school of choice for families seeking both national and internationally recognized programmes.

Curriculum Pathways

Students follow the Ghana National Curriculum, IB PYP (Candidate), and Cambridge IGCSE pathways with externally validated standards.

Languages

English is the language of instruction, with French, Mandarin in the lower years under IB PYP, and Arabic Studies also offered.

Trimester System

Three terms: August - December, January - March, and April - July

School Breaks

Midterm breaks of one week and end-of-term breaks of 4-8 weeks

Board of Trustees

Governance shaped by education, business, and international perspective

The Board includes elected parent representatives, appointed trustees, and school leadership participating in governance as ex officio members.

The school is governed by a Board of Trustees numbering not fewer than 7 and not more than 12 members.

Some trustees are elected by parents and others are appointed directly by the Board. A staff member elected by peers also serves with full voting rights.

Board members serve two-year terms and may be re-elected or re-appointed. The International Advisor, Primary Principal, and Secondary Principal attend as ex officio members.
